About This Course

Premium Studios are UCLA Extension’s immersive learning experience for professionals seeking more than a traditional course. Intentionally limited in size, each studio allows participants to work directly with internationally recognized practitioners through intensive studio sessions, collaborative discussions, and personalized feedback. Whether advancing a career, exploring a new discipline, or reconnecting with a creative practice, participants gain expert insights while building meaningful connections with fellow professionals.

This seminar introduces Loveliness Value, a Scandinavian methodology rooted in lived experience that places the essential qualities of a place at the center of the design process, before form, function, or program. Participants will explore how human-centered architecture creates opportunities to enhance the way we live, and learn how to identify and translate the qualities that make a place meaningful into architecture, interiors, and lasting value.

Learn Lisa Svan's Scandinavian methodology that identifies the essential qualities that make places memorable and meaningful. Participants will explore how these qualities can be translated into architecture, interiors, landscapes, and public environments.

Develop new ways of seeing the built environment through guided reflection, discussion, and studio exercises. Participants will strengthen their ability to recognize opportunities hidden within everyday places.

Move beyond immediate design solutions to consider how environments continue to shape people's lives over time. Participants will explore how thoughtful design creates lasting emotional, cultural, and social value.

Learning extends beyond the instructor.
