Enjoy desserts from iconic Los Angeles restaurants as Sharon Boorstin interviews Barbara Fairchild, former editor-in-chief of Bon Appétit magazine. In this fundraiser, we discuss legendary L.A. dining spots—including Musso & Frank’s Grill, the Brown Derby, and Spago—and how the city's culinary trends have evolved over the years. Our dessert buffet features historic sweets such as Chasen’s Banana Cream Pie, Scandia’s Apple Cake, Hamburger Hamlet’s Mud Pie, and Bon Appétit’s famous Ribbon Cake, which was so popular it featured on the cover twice. Barbara Fairchild spent 32 years at Bon Appétit, serving eleven of those years as editor-in-chief. Sharon Boorstin was the restaurant critic for the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner and featured Barbara in her memoir-cookbook, Let Us Eat Cake: Adventures in Food & Friendship.
